Basic Death Investigations - This course is designed
for newly assigned detectives and crime scene technicians. Emphasis is placed on injury and wound recognition, physiological
changes after death, establishing time of death, cause versus manner of death, methods of victim identification, and the forensic
autopsy. The necessity for cooperative efforts of crime scene personnel, the Medical Examiner, and other agencies
is stressed. Establishing an initial theory of the crime and developing an investigative plan are treated in detail.
Advanced Death Investigations - This course is designed
for more experienced detectives and crime scene technicians, and covers aspects of advanced forensic science. It details
investigative techniques for interpersonal, felony, suicide, group cause and sex related homicides. Emphasis is placed
on iedntifying and eliminating suspects, using a multi-disciplinary approach to death investigations, establishing and working
within an Investigative Task Force.
